WE'RE BACK - We've been away for the Christmas period visiting family and drinking copious amounts of wine but we've returned to help guide you through all the good stuff happening in Seoul this weekend.

Seoul doesn't take a break though, even in the first week of January. As always, there's a tonne of really cool events happening in the city this weekend and we've chosen our five favourite ones. Here's our list of what we'll be at this weekend.

Friday

Bye Bye Badman Live

One of the best young bands on the Korean indie scene will be debuting a new single this week during a 90-minute live set.

Bye Bye Badman had kind of a quiet year in 2017 (other than featuring in our best of the year list for their awesome single Monolove). They have a new album coming out and will be playing some new material from it, including their new single You’re Always Right About Love. This will be the first time the band have played the song live for an audience.

Their 90s minute set will also feature some more familiar music too.

Friday 5th January, 8.00pm. KT&G Sangsangmadang Live Hall.

Yaeji and Kirara live

Promotors SHADE and FEMME have joined forces again for another big night of music. This time they have brought us something really special...

One of the hottest act of 2017, Korean-American artist Yaeji was described as “the most exciting voice in house music” but Pitchfork. This is a rare chance to see her play live in Seoul.

She’ll be backed by an excellent lineup of artists including KSM favourite KIRARA. As great as Yaeji is, she may actually have a hard time following KIRARA. Her incredibly fun electronic music is even better live than it is on record.

Friday 5th January, 10.00pm. Cakeshop Seoul.

DiP

There’ll be a disco night this weekend at brand new Hongdae-based venue DiP. The night will feature three of our favourite Seoul-based DJs.

Disco Experience’s DJWOW and East Disko Win’s Junmo will be playing at the event. These two put on fun, disco-focused DJ sets that explore the history of disco sounds while also playing some more contemporary music.

Joining them will be our boy Akimbo who’s unique music fuses contemporary house styles with traditional eastern instruments.

Friday 5th January, 11.00pm. DiP.

Saturday

Classixx

Speaking of lively, disco, dance madness…

Electro-indie music production duo Classics will be returning to Seoul this weekend.

Classixx have been around for a while producing fun and innovative disco-inspired electronic grooves. They’re also well known for their remix work including their very awesome Psychic City edit.

Their live shows are always exciting so don’t miss this.

Saturday 6th January, The Henz Club.

Rock The Casbah

Kicking off 2018 in a very cool fashion, Club FF are putting on a show this weekend with three awesome bands.

Headlining the show will be Billy Carter. BC are one of the most popular indie rock bands in Korea and with good cause. Fusing rock and roll with their love of punk and garage music, their riff-heavy rock is always backed by energetic live shows.

They’ll be supported by punk band Burning Hepburn and rockabilly boys The Greatballs.

There’ll be a DJ set from rock DJ legend Eddie until 6am and the club will be giving away from cocktails between 11pm and midnight.

Saturday 6th January, 10.00pm. Club FF Hongdae.
