Organisers cancel Ducktails Seoul show amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Only last week we reported that Gimbap Records were releasing the first set of tickets for their show featuring Ducktails. The events organisers have since decided to cancel the show in the light of several accusations of sexual misconduct levied at Mondanile.
The proposed Ducktails show, due to take place in November, went on sale last Thursday. Later that day Real Estate, the former band of Ducktails’ Matt Mondanile, released a statement saying that the reason Mondanile is no longer with the bands is because of several allegations he had received for sexual misconduct.
Real Estate told Pitchfork in a statement that he “was fired in February 2016 when allegations of unacceptable treatment of women were brought to our attention.”
Since then, several women have also come forward with stories reiterating Real Estates allegations. One woman accused Mondanile of shoving her in a closet and forcing himself on her, others have recalled times Mondanile groped them while they were sleeping. One woman, a college classmate of Mondanile’s told Spin Magazine “He basically molested me in my sleep.”
Many of Ducktails upcoming tour dates have been cancelled including shows in USA, Thailand and Phillipines. Now, Gimbap Records have announced that they too will cancel the Ducktails appearance. All advance tickets bought will be refunded.
Gimbap Records still have several great shows coming up including Mild High Club and Japanese Breakfast. Click here for more info.
